Overview

Note: This is the third of three assignments that, as a whole, cover all aspects of the project life cycle relevant to your selected project.

Now, it is time for you to discuss your project’s challenges (e.g., risks), performance management plan (e.g., earned value management), and proposed plan for closing the project when it is done.

Instructions

Write a 4–6-page paper in which you define the execution, control, and closure aspects of your chosen project. In your paper you must:

1. Create a plan for project oversight that includes identifying the project’s greatest challenges and mitigation recommendations. The plan should also include rationale for why the selected challenges are the greatest challenges and why the chosen mitigation recommendations were made.

2. Provide specific and detailed information on how you will measure project performance. Define how the project will be measured and include at least three key EVM metrics that will be used to determine progress and performance success. This should also include rationale on why those specific metrics were chosen.

3. Create a plan for closing the project properly that includes details on how that closure will be coordinated with any necessary stakeholders.

4. Create a performance evaluation to measure project effectiveness that includes scope, cost, time, and quality.

5. Use at least three sources to support your writing. Choose sources that are credible, relevant, and appropriate. Cite each source listed on your source page at least one time within your assignment.

SBAR – Situation – Background – Assessment – Recommendation:

The SBAR is a tool to guide critical thinking and record each step. The format of each section will capture the details of critical information that is included in problem definition, problem analysis, and problem-solving.

Executive Summary

The executive summary is a summarized paragraph of a detailed report. The intent is to allow a healthcare executive to quickly read and understand the main points of the analysis. An executive summary is a condensed version of the report so that the reader can understand the scope in a short amount of time. An executive summary shouldn’t be an introduction; you should be able to read it separately from the report as a stand-alone document.

Style of the SBAR and Executive Summary

The style and tone of the SBAR and Executive Summary are formal and directed at a leadership audience. Sentences should be concise, direct, use bias-free language, and use an active voice. Writing quality matters as you lose credibility when you have writing mistakes.

General Formatting:

· Double-space document

· Use 1″ margins on all sides and .5″ indents for new paragraphs

· Use 12 point, Times New Roman font

· Include a page header (the title of your paper) and a page number on the top of each page

· The title page is not required unless specifically identified in the assignment

· Each section of the SBAR should have a section title (i.e. Executive Summary, Situation, Background, Assessment, Recommendation)

Citation

Outside resources are not required but if they are used, the APA approach will be used for in-text citations (author, date) and a reference page. Use the following guide for formatting in-text citations and reference section  Sample_APA_Paper__103017 copy-1.pdf.

The SBAR format with Executive Summary

Executive Summary

Write this section after you complete the SBAR, you should understand the SBAR’s purpose, scope, and major ideas. Highlight the main ideas of each section. Pull the major ideas together and condense them by combining sentences, generalizing, and eliminating unnecessary words and phrases. Use transition words to link phrases. When the summary includes the main points of the SBAR, proofread and edit to improve grammar and eliminate sentence-level errors.

Situation 

This includes the definition of the problem that is being analyzed. If the assignment has a question proposed, paraphrase the problem in your own word to verify agreement with the meaning. One of the ways to define the problem is to describe the gap in a gap analysis. Another way is to identify what the customer wants. Another approach is to define the problem using a problem statement, using examples to personalize the gap or the “pain” of the issue. This section should clearly identify to the reader what the problem is and why we need to fix it.

Background

This section includes any information that the reader needs to understand the problem. This may include what is in-scope and what is out-of-scope. This provides boundaries and a level of magnitude. Any subjective or objective data needs to be included here. If the problem involves data analytics, data sources, measurements, collection methods, and operational definitions need to be included. Any factors that impact or contribute to the problem should be identified here.

Assessment

This section is the analysis of the problem. This includes any tests or theories used to examine the available data. For example, this can be where different options are compared, like a “pros and cons” list.  If this problem is data analytics, statistical or graphical methods can identify significant factors that impact the problem. This can also be used for root cause analysis to identify the source of the issue. This section can also be used to evaluate the facts using an identified theory or tool.

Recommendation

Use divergent and convergent methods for problem-solving. Before writing, brainstorming, mind-mapping, or other creative approaches can be used to build a list of possible solutions, followed by convergent methods such as prioritizing to identify the best solution. Use this section to define recommendations that have been inspired using problem-solving methods and identify how the best ones resolve the original problem.

Critical Cultural Communication

One of the primary questions of critical-cultural work is “what’s going on?” That is to say, we are interested in understanding the complexity of contemporary events. Just like how our connection presentation will ask you to make connections between course readings and current events, this assignment will ask you to write a 2,000-word public essay which could be published in an online blog or magazine which draws on the materials we have read and discussed in the classroom and apply them to some sort of text, object, practice, or event you find meaningful or important. This assignment coincides with the third unit of our class, which examines some case studies of cultural studies work exploring issues related to our community.

 

Here’s what you should do:

 

Pitch a story to and get approval

Your pitch should include 1) a topic, 2) how it connects to our course, and 3) what you will examine (news stories, television episodes, podcasts, policy reports, etc.) to write the post. This can be just a few sentences, enough for me to assess the pitch. once you have your idea, and at least three days before the assignment is due.

Research thoroughly with appropriate news reporting and academic research as necessary, or examine texts (like movies, television episodes, comics, etc.) thoroughly with detailed notes.

Write a 2000-word essay. The style should be formal and written like you were writing a feature for a publication like The Atlantic. You might also consult the examples from Culture Critically we are reading in the third unit of the course for inspiration and for potential templates

Your essay should be argumentative in nature, using your research to make a claim about the significance or importance of the topic you are studying.

Your essay should include at least three academic sources, including two from our course syllabus, and at least non-academic sources, which might include newspaper/magazine articles, editorials, other public essays, etc.

Your essay will additionally be graded on the clarity of its writing, which includes correct grammar and a well-developed argument supported through research. While this essay is not necessarily “academic” in the traditional sense, effective public writing still depends on well-researched and clearly communicated ideas.

Module 6: Project – Implementation Plan

Background

· The objective of this project is to develop an audiovisual presentation on how technology can be applied to solve an organizational problem within an Internet of Things (IoT) framework.

· Approach the project as if you are recommending a technology implementation initiative to your chosen organization’s technology planning committee.

Implementation Plan (due at end of Module 6)

· Include a problem statement and recommended solution slides from previous deliverable for reference.

· Develop an implementation plan for your technical solution. The plan should include a work breakdown structure and schedule.

· Describe how the solution will be validated before deployment.

· Describe how the solution will be evaluated and continuously improved in operation.

· Discuss any legal, ethical, and cultural considerations associated with the solution.

“Use Immunity” is a bit narrower in its classification in terms of what can be used within the trial and what the Fifth Amendment Privilege protects.
