Assignment: You’re a highly respected consulting group, with as specialty in increasing employee engagement, and are being asked by the executive team of the company to help shape its workplace by making it more inclusive.
Company Description “Rainy Days”
The rain coat company Rainy Days, with factory and retail locations all over Europe, just completed an internal study to poll the perception of their employees of the corporate culture(s). The feedback that was generated through engagement surveys where employees were asked to rate the company’s culture was not positive.
There were some slight differences in responses between the different locations as well as between the factory workers and retail workers, however the underlying theme of the responses was that employees generally did not trust the company; more specifically, the majority of staff indicated that they did not feel like everyone was working for the same common goals and that personal differences within teams make it difficult to feel appreciated at work.
As part of the survey introduction employees were asked to answer some demographic questions. This was a voluntary question; however the majority of surveys included this information. When the results of the engagement survey were presented to the executive team, the demographics of the respondents showed much diversity in terms of age, ethnicity, level of education, sex, and length of service with the company
