Criminology and karl Marx

Consider the following to be one version of a Marxist explanation of the contents of the criminal law. The criminal law is made by the ruling class – the class that controls the important material and ideological resources in a society – in its own interests. How do you assess the validity of this way of understanding the contents of the criminal law and the changes it has undergone over time? What aspects of law does this explanation explain satisfactorily?
