I’m stuck on a Law question and need an explanation.

DQ1- With regard to firearms specifically, police departments in many other nations carry assault rifles and other heavy weaponry as part of their daily activities and on their person. Conversely, American police officers will often only carry their department issued pistol. Why? Does this touch upon any ethical obligations of the police? If so, how?

DQ2- Because of the pressures and stress of police work, sometimes, police officers may develop psychological problems and or problems with alcohol or drug addiction. If another officer in a police department suspects or knows a comrade has developed psychological and or alcohol or drug addiction problems, what ethical obligation does that officer have to report those perceived problems to supervisors within the department? How does your personal ethics guide this decision? How can one judge when these obligations may be triggered?

DQ3- Compliance with legal obligations and ethical obligations are not necessarily the same thing. What are the possible differences between those two competing goals? Is it easier to comply with the law or ethical obligations? Why?

DQ4- Consider the ethics investigation of Bill Clinton regarding his perjury during the Monica Lewinski scandal. Was President Clinton in violation of the law? Did he breach his ethical obligations? Explain.
