Hello, I am looking for someone to write an essay on SOURCE EVALUATION:Arjomand, Said Amir. The Turban for the Crown: The Islamic Revolution in Iran. New York: Oxford UP, 1989. Print. It needs to be at least 750 words.
This book also looks at the turmoil experienced in Iran during the revolution in 1979. By providing an insight on the turmoil, we are able to understand the political situation that Iran was in at the time that led Iraq to attack. This book provides me with a good source for understanding the Iran revolution and the war between Iraq and Iran. The author also tries to understand the revolution in Iran in 1979 by use of socialistic views and ideologies which also came to play in the Iran-Iraq war (Arjomand 96). This book provides a scholarly source for my work on the Iran-Iraq war which begun in1980. This book got published in 1989 after both the revolution in Iran and the war and in turn provides accounts from a third person perspective.
The book has had a published review in 1991 Chicago journals by Juan R Cole, a professor of history at Michigan University. In his review, Professor Cole praises this book as it tries to provide understanding of revolutions from a sociological view in light of the works by Emile Durkheim and Max Weber. Professor Cole is notable for having spoken to the United States senate concerning affairs regarding to the Middle East countries. This source provides a socialistic view into understanding of the Iran-Iraq war from the revolution in Iran that preceded it.
The Islamic revolution in Iran refers to overthrowing of Iran’s monarchy and its consolidation to an Islamic republic in 1979 (Arjomand 86). The revolution became led by Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini who oversaw the overthrowing of Shah Pahlavi from power. The revolution led to turmoil in Iran and this gave Iraq hopes for initiating war in 1980 resulting in the first Persian Gulf War. The revolution started out as demonstrations and strikes which intensified and resulted to paralyzing the country. Shah Pahlavi had become assisted to power through a coupe d’état which became viewed as engineered by the United States and United Kingdom.
