You had your first practice interview during the first week of class. Since then, you’ve had the chance to learn more about the formal interviewing procedure and the interviewing methods. In-depth information will be gathered throughout your interview to help with the client’s diagnosis and treatment strategy. Both headaches and sleep issues require specific information regarding the symptoms that are being reported (e.g., how frequently do the headaches occur?). They last for how long? What do they like to feel? Has any therapy been effective? Do the headaches follow a pattern? A thorough picture of the patient must also be presented. The patient’s age, marital status, gender, and employment position are all listed. Don’t stop at these sample inquiries; instead, have a thorough, in-depth conversation with your client. Determine and briefly state the goal of your interview. What will you do with the data you compile? Describe the structure of the interview that you will use and the thinking behind it. Include a list of the subjects you intend to discuss. Write the inquiries you’ll use to get the data (create at least 15-20 inquiries).
