The famous BradColl Theatre’s Saturday night performance of Hello Dolly by the Knight Theatre Company ended up being a horror production due to a number of significant mishaps.
Prior to the theater doors opening, the first incident took place.
When show producer Jeremiah Jones arrived at the theater, the lights were out, and the theater was completely dark. In search of the light switch, he ascended a spiral staircase where he came across an unmarked and unlocked door. The balcony, which had been utilized for the balcony scene in a Romeo and Juliet production, was concealed behind it. He flung himself 10 feet (3 meters) to the stage below after opening the door. He is currently paralyzed.
Just as the stage curtains were being raised, the second occurrence happened. On stage, there was a significant accident. The set collapsed over actor Peter Wanagetoff after actress Candy Star, who was a little tipsy from drinking to ease her opening night anxiety, crashed against a portion of the set. Peter was transported to the hospital after suffering a physical injury.
Candy worked on numerous programs and was a certified performer with the Khan Performance Agency. She was asked if she wanted to work for herself or for the Knight Theatre Company while she was being hired. She claimed to be self-employed for tax purposes. Still, she also signed a contract of employment laying out the location of her employment, the hours of rehearsal and performance, the provision of all costumes and other necessary supplies by the theater company, and the prohibition on taking any vacations prior to the end of the current run of performances.
The last occurrence took place in the second act. Rows C to E of the audience began to hear a crackling sound above them. A sizable portion of the auditorium ceiling fell onto them before they realized they were in danger.
Row D was occupied by the Abdul family, which consisted of Paul Abdul, his wife Salma, their two children, and his friend Maria. Salma and Maria were returning to their seats with some refreshments when the ceiling collapsed. Both of them instantly went into shock as they witnessed the ceiling fall over Paul and the kids. Salmas’ shock led to her being rushed to the hospital, where she miscarried. Both continue to have restless nights. Paul and the kids were also taken to the hospital after the event, where they received scrapes and bruises.
Sarah Hogg was in row T, while Danny Smith was in row F, directly behind the Adbuls. Sarah Hogg and Danny Smith were both severely shocked after seeing the occurrence, despite neither of them having any physical wounds.
Except for Angela Rush, the audience had calmly exited the theater. Jen Mallah was shoved out of the way by Angela, who was impatient to leave her row of seats. Jen sliced her leg as a result of falling as a result of this. When Angela arrived at the theater exit door, a valuable antique door, it would not fully open. They were unable to leave because of the gathering that had gathered behind her. Angela could still hear the ceiling crumbling in pieces. Everyone was able to escape safely after she seized a nearby fire axe and forced it open.
The following concerts had to be canceled as a result of the aforementioned circumstances.
Due to the unpredictability of the production’s duration, it was initially planned to run every day for two months. Still, if it proved successful, it could run for up to four months. The musicians for the show were hired to play for each show. The twenty-five musicians were each expected to get £100 for each performance. Each musician has suffered a loss of £6,000 to $12,000 as a result of the production’s cancellation.
To address all the legal concerns addressed, including identifying the claimant(s) and defendant(s), apply the Law of Tort to the aforementioned.
