VRIO analysis

The VRIO framework is an internal analysis through which businesses try to identify the

strengths and resources that give them competitive edge over their competitors. The VRIO

framework is an acronym that includes Value, Rarity, Imitability, and Organization. These four

factors are considered important markers for the unique values and resources the business is

characterized by. A crucial aspect of the VRIO analysis is to identify the elements of these four

categories mentioned above, and once you do so, you can proceed to explore more to uncover

more details about them.

SWOT analysis

Conducting a SWOT analysis is a powerful way to evaluate a business irrespective of the size of

the business or the number of employees. The SWOT analysis is a technique that we use to

determine and define a company’s Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats. Most

commonly, we use SWOT analysis to determine how closely a business is aligned with its

growth trajectories and benchmarks for success. We assess and evaluate the internal and

external factors through SWOT analysis.

Strengths (s) and weaknesses (W) refer to internal factors. These are usually the resources and

experiences that are readily available to you. Some commonly considered internal factors are

financial, physical, and human resources; trademarks, patents, and copyrights; employee

programs; software systems; etc. External factors, on the other hand, influence and affect the

business and the individuals connected with the business. These factors are usually connected

directly or indirectly to an opportunity (O) or threat (T). External factors are typically the things

that your business does not control such as market and economic trends; funding;

demographics; political, environment, and economic regulations; etc.
