One of the clear consequences of significant increases to lifespan is a dramatic increase in world population unless birth rates are also reduced. Au brey deGrey says while this may be true, the current generation (us) should not make moral decisions for future generations based on our current beliefs and understandings.
Do you accept this argument? Do you think we should or should not explore ways for people to live much longer even though the consequence will be that future birth rates will have to be reduced? What other social consequences of extreme lifespans can you imagine?
