Structuring Your Arguments in a Scholarly Article

 

purpose is to assist you in writing an essay that is argumentative.
Introduction This exercise is meant to assist you in strengthening your thesis by logically connecting all elements of your academic paper to it; in other words, making your argument the focal point of your writing.

Individual Project Read the University of South Australia article titled “Structuring an Academic Argument Within a Journal Paper” for further information. The next activities must be completed using the argument you created in Activity 7.2 as a guide. Do not forget to record these chores in your workbook.

Write an introduction that summarizes your argument in accordance with any useful methodology covered in the introduction and Section 1 of the reading. Include specific objectives or research questions in your paper.
Step 2: Talk about the significance and/or validity of your argument, especially why it is a “gap” worth looking into, drawing on your review of pertinent literature. For assistance, you could refer to reading subsection 2.
Step 3: Describe a scientific approach you have used to analyze your research goals or find the answers to your research questions. Pay close attention to how this method helped validate or verify your claim. The reading’s Section 4 would be a great resource for guidance.
Step 4: Outline your findings in a manner that amply supports your article’s main contention. For guidance, refer to the discussion in reading subsection 5.
Step 5: Discuss your findings and any other noteworthy information you learned while conducting your investigation. For guidance, refer to the discussion in reading Subsection 6.
8.2 Organizing Your Research Paper’s Objectives to explain the guidelines for the document’s structure and to introduce the research paper format.

The research paper should describe the project’s research component and be no more than 4 pages (but it can be fewer). The paper should provide a summary of the research if the entire endeavor is a research effort. The document should solely summarize the research portion of the project if it is a research and development project overall.
All students should use the following broad headings: Abstract; Background; Literature; Methodology; Results; Discussion; Conclusion; and References

Individually project the IEEE conference paper template after downloading it.

1. Find a discussion in the literature that pertains to a certain element of your study (such as a theory, a model, or a methodology).
2. Name and characterize two competing points of view in this discussion.
3. Describe the supporting evidence used by each side of the argument to bolster its assertions in no fewer than 100 words.

7.2 Formulating a Scholarly Argument of Your Own
To give you a structure for developing your own scholarly arguments.
Introduction: This exercise is meant to aid you in identifying important factors to take into account when creating an academic argument and in creating sound arguments for your study.

Individual task: Respond to the questions below based on your Activity 7.1 comments and descriptions.
1. Clearly describe your stance in reference to the many ways that others have applied a theory, model, or method that is pertinent to your research problem in a statement of claim.
What information or evidence is available to support your position? (For instance, conclusions or discussions from earlier studies, AS or ISO standards, a well-established technique in a particular field of practice, etc.)
b. Describe in detail how the body of evidence backs up your claim.
What other assertions and proofs are there that might have refuted your suggested theory, paradigm, or approach?
2. React to a discussion in an article that questions the application of a theory or approach you’ve provided in no fewer than 150 words, offering refutations and supporting data to refute their assertions.
