Using at least three of the plays we read this quarter(King Lear, The Tempest, 1 Henry IV), please explain the relevance of Shakespeare to contemporary students.

For your final essay for the course, please write a 1,250 – 2,000 word response to one of the following prompts. You may use additional research. As always, be sure to cite references properly. (use the plays as a reference and source)

Option 1

Using at least three of the plays we read this quarter(King Lear, The Tempest, 1 Henry IV), please explain the relevance of Shakespeare to contemporary students. Be sure to interact with the text and use it for specific evidence and support.

Option 2

Consider one of the many themes or motifs found in Shakespeare’s work: marriage, family, authority, religion, gender, class, etc. Use works from at least three of the units we covered this semester to examine how Shakespeare’s works explore the theme.
