Houston Assignment

Answer the questions below. It is critical that you explicitly reference information from the book and use specific examples when trying to make your points.

1. The book describes Sam Houston and Andrew Jackson developing a friendship: compare and contrast these two prominent southerners focusing on a noticeable similarity in their lives/careers, and a notable difference in their lives/careers, then tell if you think Houston was a typical mid-1800s southern leader with views on slavery and secession just like most other white southerners of this time.

Format – Paper must be no less than 300, no more than 500 words (page to page and a half roughly). Organize it by paragraphs, no single “block paragraph” please, double-spaced, typed in Times New Roman 11 font. Put your name and a title on a cover page (those words don’t count toward the total), but no Worked Cited is necessary. Microsoft Word or PDF are very compatible word processing programs for Blackboard so their use is highly preferred.
