Explain the main differences between Civil law and Common Law legal systems. Do you think Kafka’s “Before the law” could be true to the UK legal system? How about in Canada’s legal system? What do you think could be done to change things and make the law more accessible? Explain the meaning of precedent. What is precedent in the common law system? How does a precedent case affect later decisions? What can courts do if they agree with the precedent, disagree with the precedent, or believe that it is time for precedent changes?
