Within the last five years, podcasts have become a great tool for those curious about stories of the past. They provide a convenient avenue for historians to discuss their research while making it accessible for those in the field as well as those that are not in the field. For this assignment, you will be tasked with writing a 2-3-page response paper regarding a podcast that was assigned to you. See Canvas for due dates for this assignment.

DETAILED INSTRUCTIONS:

Response Paper Prompt: For this paper, I am looking for you to analyze the podcast that you listened to prior to writing the paper. The first step here should be listening to the podcast and taking notes. From there, you will create an essay that ought to be more critical than simply proving me a summary of the podcast. Instead, examine the arguments and points the speaker is making. Are these arguments effective? How do they relate to the topics we have discussed in class? What are some of the takeaway messages in the podcast? Does the podcast change the way that we examined the topic in class, why or why not? What surprised you about this topic?

Essays must conform to ALL conventions of formal writing. This means that your essays are expected to be doubled-spaced, 12-point font, grammatically correct, and refer back to the primary documents. Please include a word count on your paper. Papers that are either too long or too short will be penalized.
