You will write this IN CLASS later next week. 1.5-2 pages double-spaced. You will have around 30 minutes, and you will be able to bring one side of a 3X5 notecard with an outline. We have begun exploring philosophy through Plato’s depiction of it. For Plato, philosophy is not a “school subject,” it is a way of living. Explain Plato’s view of the philosophical way of life: what do philosophers desire, what do they value, what do they do, and how do these things differ from more typical ways of living that he depicts? Answer these questions as depicted in, and with reference to, the cave allegory, Euthyphro, and Apology. Incorporate the following terms with clear explanation of what they mean for Plato in these texts: inherited beliefs/opinions visible vs. intelligible appearance vs. being enlightenment forms/ideas knowledge Socratic wisdom
